Taxes for au pairs

If your au pair worked over 19 weeks last year, he/she probably owes some tax!  Under helpful links I have included information from the IRS.  You will find a link to the IRS website page where they specifically address au pairs and filing taxes.  I have also linked the 2013 tax table, YAY!!!  Okay, so we aren’t that excited about taxes but every au pair that worked in 2012 needs to file, no matter how many weeks they worked.

If your au pair is more comfortable sending a paper form, they will need to send to one of the addresses below.  Make sure that they have the forms in the mail and post marked by April 15th!

Form 1040NR-EZ U.S. Income Tax Return for Certain Nonresident Aliens With No Dependents (if not enclosing a payment)

Department of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service
Austin, Texas 73301-0215

Form 1040NR-EZ U.S. Income Tax Return for Certain Nonresident Aliens With No Dependents (if enclosing a payment)

Internal Revenue Service
P.O. Box 1303
Charlotte, NC 28201-1303
USA

The form they need to file is 1040NR-EZ.  There is a link (under helpful links) for this form as well but I did send an email to all current host families and au pairs with this information.
